Green Grove Primitive Baptist Church, Est. 1870

The church was founded in 1870 by Elder Robert House, a circuit preacher from Rutherford County, and named Green Grove United Primitive Baptist Church. Services were held under a tree until church members could complete the construction of a building for their church and school. Much of the work was accomplished at night by lantern light. In March 2001, the foundation for a new facility was poured. History repeated itself, me and women of Green Grove and the community worked together. On September 30, 2001 a newly built Green Grove Primitive Baptist Church was dedicated under the leadership of Elder Richard Lloyd.

Elder Claybrooks is the devoted husband to Kerry Claybrooks and a proud father of three wonderful children: Josiah, Nia, and Zoe. Charles Claybrooks is a native of Nashville, TN, and a graduate of Whites Creek High School. After high School, he joined the United State Army, where he served for eight years.

He served as the President of the Deacons and Laymen’s Union and Vice President of the Sunday School Convention of the Big Harpeth United Primitive Baptist Association.

Being obedient to God, Charles Claybrooks move to Mount Zion Baptist Church under the Leadership of Bishop Joseph W. Walker III. There he became an ordained Elder in 2019. He served the Mount Zion Church as the leader of the Marriage Virtual Village, teacher for Youth Church, and the Congregational Leader for Elder Care. God saw fit to allow him the opportunity to lead the congregation of the Green Grove P.B. Church. He looks forward to what God has in store for him as he continues to serve God and love God’s people.
